
Urobuchi Gen
[Twitter](https://twitter.com/Butch_Gen) Gen Urobuchi is a Japanese novelist and screenwriter. He is a key member of the video game and visual novel developer [Nitroplus](https://anilist.co/studio/459/Nitroplus) and currently serves as the company's representative director and vice-president. He is best known as the co-creator of the highly acclaimed and commercially successful anime series [Puella Magi Madoka Magica](https://anilist.co/anime/9756/Puella-Magi-Madoka-Magica/), which earned him the Tokyo Anime Award for Best Scriptwriter. His other major works include the acclaimed Nitroplus-developed visual novel, *Saya no Uta*, the anime series [PSYCHO-PASS](https://anilist.co/anime/13601/PSYCHOPASS/), the light novel and anime series [Fate/Zero](https://anilist.co/anime/10087/FateZero/), and the tokusatsu TV show *Kamen Rider Gaim*. Urobuchi is one of the most renowned and prolific writers in the anime industry. Anime series written by Urobuchi that have won the Newtype Anime Award have been Puella Magi Madoka Magica in 2011, Fate/Zero in 2012 and [Psycho-Pass: The Movie](https://anilist.co/anime/20514/PSYCHOPASS-The-Movie/) in 2015. A film buff, Urobuchi likes to include film homages in his works. He has named Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Sergio Leone, and John Carpenter to be his favorite directors.
